VMworld 2008 | Interview with Carter Shanklin
Interview with LucD the VI Toolkit Scripting contest winner
This afternoon I ran into LucD, the winner of the Vmware PowerShell scripting contest and took the opportunity to ask him a few questions. I was wondering if he used the 5000 $ first prize to go to the VMworld 2008 in Las Vegas and he did. Another question is his real name? Just click on the play button and listen for yourself.

Vizion Las Vegas | Vizioncore Partner Reception '08
This year’s Vizioncore Partner Reception was another memorable event with food, friends and fun. Typically what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but about this event I want to brag to everybody that I was there. Vizioncore had reserved Tryst, one of the hottest clubs in Vegas, for the coolest cats in the world. The main room has an open air dance floor extending into a 90-foot waterfall, cascading into a secluded lagoon. While we were there, Viktor van den Berg made some photos and I’ve shot some video. Tryst. It's a word that evokes a thrilling, ultimate escape from the everyday. It's an exciting rendezvous, and there is no more fitting name for this sophisticated nightspot.
I Picked Up My VMworld 2008 Badge

Partner Day sessions kick off on Monday, September 15. I was already in town for a few days so I picked up my registration materials, including my badge and Partner Day program guide, on Sunday afternoon at Level I of the Venetian Hotel. While I was there I made a little video impression. This picture is (C) Viktor van den Berg.

VMworld 2008 | First video footage
This morning managed to get into the Venetian convention area. When I was walking around there I collected some video footage, you can take a peek at the registration area with all the faces. I also was able to take a few shots from the lab and keynote rooms.

Thinsy's availability of EnSpeed VMM with LiveSync version 2.0
Thinsy Corporation announced the immediate availability of EnSpeed VMM with LiveSync version 2.0, and EnSpeed VM Orchestrator version 2.0. Storage Intelligence similar to that found in SAN and NAS hardware is built-in, thereby ushering in a new generation of Virtualization Software.
EnSpeed VMM is VM Server Software with an integrated storage intelligence component called LiveSync. LiveSync works with direct attached SATA, SCSI and RAID disks, as well as legacy SAN or NAS Storage and enables the following Enterprise features:
1. High Availability: If one VM Server fails, a backup server starts up the VM
2. Clone VM: A 16 Gigabyte Clone VM can be created in 15 seconds
3. Full and Incremental Backup of VM without Shutting Down
EnSpeed VMM with LiveSync is the industry’s first product to enable the above features using Direct Attached Storage. EnSpeed VM Orchestrator is Thinsy’s VM Management Server. It provides an intuitive web browser GUI for managing LiveSync VM Servers. No client software is required for accessing the Orchestrator. Standard Java enabled browsers running in Windows, Linux and Apple desktops work well for accessing the Orchestrator. The 2.0 version of EnSpeed VM Orchestrator has an exciting new look and feel.
