FastScale Technology announced the
beta release of a new product that enables system administrators, developers, and software appliance builders to easily create and manage lightweight server software stacks in the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2). The new FastScale Stack Manager™ Workstation Edition offers a flexible and automated approach to building software environments that average 95% smaller, require 75% less memory and present a smaller attack surface for increased security. Fully-configured software stacks can be output in right-sized AMI or VMDK format, on-demand.
FastScale has leveraged its enterprise-class technology and packaged it with new capabilities for individual users of Amazon EC2. Designed for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 or 5 based application environments, FastScale Stack Manager Workstation Edition provides a complete infrastructure for system administrators, developers and appliance builders to create and configure small footprint, resource-efficient software stacks for deployment in Amazon EC2 or VMware Infrastructure – with the push of a button. A robust Software Component Repository enables management of the software stacks and all components throughout their lifecycle.
