Project Lightwave Provides Authentication for Project Photon SSH Logins
Project Lightwave is an open source identity and access management suite from VMware that will offer standards-based authorization and authentication services. It's an enterprise-grade security, governance, and compliance platform for next gen apps. This video demonstrates how Lightwave can be used to create a multi-master domain with Project Photon container runtimes in order to centrally authenticate client SSH logins.

NSX Hosted Evaluation
Hands-on Labs are the fastest and easiest way to test-drive the full technical capabilities of VMware products. These evaluations are free, up and running on your browser in minutes, and require no installation.
The scenario in the VMware NSX Introduction lab depicts a company ABC who wants to host a web application in the data center. The users/customers of this ABC company access the application remotely.
The web application is a three-tier app with each tier in a different Layer 2 network. The following are some of the key services required for the application
- Load balancer service to provide better application user experience
- Firewall service that protects the three tiers of the application. Web, App and DB servers are protected from each other and from external world through Firewall rules.
- Routing service to provide access across the tiers and to the physical network

VMware Horizon 6 Storage Considerations
This document addresses the challenges associated with end-user computing workloads in a virtualized environment and suggests design considerations for managing them.
It focuses on performance, capacity, and operational considerations of the storage subsystem because storage is the foundation of any virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) implementation.
Where possible, it offers multiple solutions to common design choices faced by IT architects tasked with designing and implementing a VMware Horizon storage strategy.

How VMware Mirage Complements and Extends Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager
This white paper describes how VMware Mirage can extend and complement PC-life-cycle-management (PCLM) tools, such as Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2007 or 2012.
Mirage is not a replacement for SCCM, which you can use for managing PCs from inception to retirement. Rather, Mirage extends and complements certain SCCM functions.
You can use either Mirage or SCCM for building and deploying PC images and applications, migrating Windows operating systems (OSes), and migrating users to different hardware.
For example, you can use Mirage to build, deploy, and back up PC images, and use SCCM to manage inventory and client settings and to protect endpoints from viruses and malware. Mirage provides disaster recovery for endpoints, but SCCM does not.

VMware Virtual SAN Snapshots in VMware vSphere 6.0 Performance Study
In VMware vSphere 6.0, snapshots with VMware Virtual SAN have been completely redesigned. In this paper, VMware presents the performance of Virtual SAN snapshots for two different applications, namely a source tree compilation workload to roughly mimic “test and development” scenarios, and an online transaction-based database application.
Overall, VMware has found that Virtual SAN snapshots in vSphere 6.0 perform reasonably with minimal performance degradation compared to base disk performance. We also address performance tunable configurations and sizing recommendations to optimize performance with Virtual SAN snapshots.
