De VMUG gebruikersdag die vandaag heeft plaats gevonden in het gloednieuwe kantoor van XTG in Gouda was een groot succes. Dit leverde aan het einde van de middag zelfs een daverend applaus op. Daarnaast was de lunch en het Mexicaanse diner zeer goed verzorgd.

Af en toe ben je wel eens benieuwd wat het googelen naar je eigen naam oplevert. Nadat ik dit weer eens gedaan had, kwam ik erachter dat het alweer negen jaar geleden is dat ik de virtuele gokkast van Radio 538 had gekraakt, deze hack werd destijds gepubliceerd door Francisco van Jole in de Daily Planet. Het hacken begon overigens al veel eerder aangespoord door het blad Hacktic waarvan ik het eerste exemplaar uit 1989 nog steeds in mijn boekenkast heb staan. Hieronder staan de beide artikelen uit de DAILY PLANET van donderdag 19 september 1996.

This new book is updated for all the new versions of VMware products. It is based on VMware Workstation version 5 and all the tips and procedures have been updated for this latest version.
New topics include: Multiple Snapshots, Teaming virtual machines and Linux installation and configuration. There is also a section that introduces VMware ACE.

The tools that I cover for P2V have been updated to include Acronis TrueImage for Windows (including server versions) and freely available Linux tools and default commands to copy a machine into a virtual machine directly via the network.

The second edition of Rob's guide to using VMware continues where the author stopped with the first edition. New topics covered in the book are VMware ACE and VMware GSX Server.

Gebruikersdag

Op donderdag 22 september wordt door Bouke Groenescheij een presentatie op de VMUG gebruikersdag over het onderwerp "Online backup tools" gegeven. Aansluitend zal door Eric Sloof een presentatie geven over de mogelijkheden van online backup mogelijkheden van esxRanger.

De gebruikersdag zit verder vol met technische presentaties! Tussen de presentaties door is ruimte om met andere VMware gebruikers ervaringen uit te wisselen.

Inschijven voor de VMUG gebruikersdag kan tot 19 September 2005.
