VMware has completely revamped the VCF certification framework, resulting in a major upgrade for anyone working with VMware Cloud Foundation. The new structure aligns much better with real-world private cloud roles and the deep technical expertise teams need today. This update introduces a fully role-based certification model, deeper validation of design, deployment and troubleshooting skills, a major expansion of the Advanced Professional level, and eleven completely new VCAP exams across both role-based and domain-based areas.
The new VCF Accreditation level serves as the foundation for both technical and non-technical roles. It validates core private cloud fundamentals, customer pain points and use cases, and the value and positioning of VMware Cloud Foundation. This ensures that professionals in Sales, Engineering, Architecture, Implementation and Support share a consistent baseline understanding.
The VMware Certified Professional program has also been redesigned. Instead of validating isolated technologies, the new VCP structure is role-based, VCF-focused, and closely aligned with real-world job functions. The updated exams now validate skills in designing, deploying, managing and troubleshooting both vSphere Foundation and VMware Cloud Foundation environments, providing a more unified and practical certification path.
The VMware Certified Advanced Professional framework has undergone the most significant transformation. It now includes a broad set of technical specializations that cover both role-focused expertise and domain-specific skills. These certifications validate complex design abilities, advanced deployment experience and deep troubleshooting knowledge. They are designed for architects, senior administrators, automation engineers, networking specialists and operations teams who want to formally demonstrate high-level VCF expertise.
VMware has introduced eleven new VCAP exams. These are:
- VCAP Architect
- VCAP Administrator
- VCAP Support
- VCAP VKS (Kubernetes Services)
- VCAP Compute
- VCAP Storage
- VCAP Networking
- VCAP Operations
- VCAP Automation
- VCAP Cyber Compliance
- VCAP Private AI
This is the largest expansion of VCAP certifications in VMware’s history and finally provides official recognition across all major VCF roles and technical domains.
With this new certification model, VMware is bridging the gap between traditional certification paths and the real-world skills required to operate modern private cloud environments. The addition of eleven new VCAP exams brings a level of depth and specialization not previously available. Whether you are an architect, a senior administrator, a network engineer, a Kubernetes specialist or an automation expert, there is now a dedicated VCAP path tailored to your responsibilities and expertise. The result is a certification framework that accurately reflects how modern private cloud environments are built, operated and optimized.
