Building your own VMware ESXi Server in under an hour with parts you may have lying under your bed. Extreme sports cameras and mounts and mounts can be expensive. Why not build your own for about 5 bucks. And light video editing that's both easy and free? Avidemux may be the answer.

TheVESI reporting PowerPack available
Yesterday evening I attended the First Unofficial Online VMware User Group meeting hosted by Alan Renouf. One of the presenters was Scott Herold; he showed a demo of theVESI and has unveiled the new Advanced Reporting Power Pack for the Virtualization EcoShell.
For those not quite ready to dive right in, I’ve also provided two sample reports. The first is a Host report with no indentation, grouped by VMware Version. The second is a Virtual Machine report grouped first by Operating System, and next by PowerState with all indentation levels enabled.
If you didn’t attend the meeting, don’t worry. Alan will make a copy available on his website. You can also attend the Powershell in a Nutshell at 8th VMUG.be meeting on June 19th, where I will show you a demo of theVESI.

New V2V Converter for Hyper-V to VMware
StarWind Software is about to release the StarWind Converter- a free multi vendor V2V (Virtual to Virtual) converter that will convert virtual machine images from the Microsoft Hyper-V (VHD) format into the VMware ESX (VMDK) format and also into StarWind virtual SAN (IMG) format and vice versa. The unique feature that StarWind Converter offers is the ability for IT professionals to migrate any virtual machines away from direct attached storage to shared storage in one step. This means that VMware and Hyper-V virtual machines can be quickly and easily migrated to shared storage therefore allowing for server clustering and high application and data availability.
