VMWorld 2007 Live coverage
Next Saturday me and my wife will fly from Brussels to San Francisco where I’m going to visit the VMworld 2007 event. During this event I will try to record a lot of audio interviews and capture some video footage. The lead-in for the audio interviews is ready and I also created a nice leader for my you-tube video’s. I used the online schedule builder to create an interesting list of sessions. I will team up with two fellow VMware certified instructors. Viktor van den Berg just bought a new flash light for his Nikon D50 camera and he will cover the event for the Dutch Vmug. He has opened a new photo-set on his Flickr site, where you can find the VMworld 2007 photo’s. Bouke Groenescheij is busy with the preparation for his “The Complete Clustering How-To? presentation. He will cover the event live using his weblog. The first official event will take place on Sunday. Vizioncore organized a partner appreciation evening. I don’t know what to expect, but I’m confident that Vizioncore will throw a great party. Keep a close watch to my site and stay up- to-date.
Ideas International released an interactive evaluation
The IT research firm Ideas International released a new evaluation that compares the technical capabilities of four x86 virtual machine platforms (VMware Infrastructure 3, Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1, Xen with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, and Xen with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP1). The evaluation compares the quality of 40 different functional details in these systems, organized across five categories: performance & scalability; availability; storage Integration; manageability, and deployment considerations. The results of this evaluation are public, and they can be browsed online using a web-based collaborative mechanism. This interface allows visitors to weight the importance of functions covered in the evaluation to arrive at a customized comparison of these VM platforms reflecting their needs. It is also possible for users to contribute their own ratings of individual functions, should they choose to agree or disagree with our "expert" analysis.

VMW’07 : Where's the Party ?
I was wondering where the VMworld 2007 party is going to be. The only thing I can find in “My Schedule? is Wednesday, September 12 7:30pm - 11:00pm VMworld Party. Until now this is the best kept secret at VMware. After searching the internet I have found this VMTN discussion. So the location is going to be Treasure Island and we can enjoy a concert from Smash Mouth but can we trust Brian Gallob on this ? ;-)
